Even if you have never played any of the Final Fantasy games or even heard of the game series, chances are that you’ve encountered the music from the games. It is a part of the gaming experience that you really have put in a lot of resources and today the music is famous all over the world. In Sweden, it has been presented by the Royal Philharmonic. It is not only the games that have become popular, but also the music has been appreciated and several albums have been released over the years. The very first album released as early as 1994 is called Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version. Nobuo Uematsu

Nobuo Uematsu is the composer who created the most music for the Final Fantasy Games. He previously worked in a music store and wrote music for television commercials. He was asked to create music for games made by Square Enix, the game developer behind Final Fantasy, but could never have imagined how much his music would become one day. The first Final Fantasy game was released in 1987 and Uematsu stood for the music.

Other composers

Until 2001, only Uematsu was composing the music for the games, but after that, several other composers have participated. The first who cooperated with Uematsu were Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano. Since then, several other composers have helped to create the well-composed music that has become so popular all over the world. The latest soundtrack was created by Yoko Shimomura.

The popularity of music

The well-crafted music has not only complemented the gaming experience in the popular games scene, but has also become so famous in several musical circles that orchestras around the world have been touring and making concerts where only Final Fantasy music was in focus. Some of the most popular titles are ‘To Zanarkand’ from Final Fantasy X, ‘Terra’s Theme’ from Final Fantasy VI and ‘One-Winged Angel’ from Final Fantasy VII.
